Already taught English overseas without a TESOL certificate? Meet Joe!
Having already spent 12 months teaching English in China , and then
returning to Australia to obtain a TESOL certificate, may appear to be
an odd sequence of events. Perhaps I should explain how this came to
be.
After 20 years in the private corporate sector, I decided it was time for a change of direction and more importantly, a change of life-style. My previous career had given me some experience in teaching and training, mainly in the form of induction courses for new employees. This, combined with my love for travel, made teaching in China a very attractive prospect.
I was fortunate enough to locate a State-run Middle School in Jiangsu Province who offered me a 12 month contract. I was only the second foreign teacher to have ever taught at this school, and my time there was nothing short of fantastic and fascinating. When it was time for me to leave, I found myself vowing to return to this remarkable country, as soon as I could.
Now that I have a TESOL certificate, I have discovered that my prospects and my choice of jobs have been greatly enhanced.
The course at Teach International has not only given me many more ?tools and techniques', it has taught me how to use these to the benefit of my students, and thus become a more effective teacher.
Take the first step......make it all happen!
