Company History

Teach International first commenced operations in 2000 in New Zealand as a teacher recruitment program for positions in South Korea. The founder and owner of the business, Adam Morehouse, had worked for many years teaching English in Korea and recognised the growing demand for native English speakers around the world.

Teach International TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Foundation course (renamed Certificate in TESOL) commenced in late 2001 in New Zealand, and then in Australia in May 2002. Courses were first run in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Over a short space of time, the course was offered in most capital cities throughout Australasia.

The company enjoyed strong growth over the next two years, and in late 2004 Teach International introduced two additional courses. These new courses were accredited by the Accreditation Authority of the Dept of Employment and Training Queensland, and the Certificate III in TESOL (30873QLD) and the Certificate IV in TESOL (30874QLD) were introduced. In mid 2005, the company became a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and delivery of the new certificate courses commenced.

In August 2005 Teach International was moved by the devastation caused by the Boxing day Tsunami. Teach International partnered with Habitat for Humanity and led a humanitarian trip to coastal Bapatla, India, along with four of our TESOL trainers, four of our students, and two of our YHA business affiliates to stay in an orphanage and build houses in a small village. The experience was life-changing and had a profound effect on all who went.

Teach international has held bi-annual TESOL courses in Hanoi, Vietnam since April 2007, and in April 2009 expanded the Study Overseas Program to Istanbul, Turkey. We are continually looking for new overseas programmes to give our students first hand experience of what TESOL teaching is all about. Sharing and exchanging our culture and way of life, as well as language, has become a celebrated part of these trips during scheduled social events.

Teach International welcomes more opportunities for humanitarian and cultural exchange. We are actively looking for ways to partner with charitable organizations and involve ourselves, and our students in life-changing teaching and travel.

Teach International – your first choice in TESOL training.
